Rosario Cicero Renaissance and Baroque guitars
Mario D'Agosto Renaissance lute, Baroque lute and theorbo

Rosario Cicero and Mario D'Agosto, two soloists who have for some time been engaged in the rediscovery of the repertoire for early guitar and lute, meet here in an original type of performance, offering a panorama of Renaissance and Baroque dance music, using a varied and suggestive succession of instruments, all copies of the originals.

The intertwining polyphonies of the 16th century branles, the warm and expressive cantabile of the Baroque lute, the intense rhythmic drive of the dances for Spanish guitar, the grand art of variation which pushes instrumental technique to an unsuspected virtuosity, lead the listener on a fascinating journey through the sounds and colours of a world which reveals itself to be, even today, surprisingly modern.
